This translation of a probing examination of power and politics in Islamic texts, Islamic history, and Muslim current affairs preserves the nuance of the Arabic original while making it accessible to the English reader.

Lewisburg, PA: Bucknell UP, 2016. This is the first full English translation of the 1766 Moroccan embassy travelogue Natījat al-ijtihād fī al-muhādana wa-al jihād, based on a critical consolidation of multiple manuscripts. It offers a look into the mind of an 18th century Muslim notable traveling in the former Andalusia.
